What is Junior League?
The Junior League Program is driven by the game, its players, coaches, volunteers, and families. This “Fun”damental approach allows for long-term player development to occur through an understanding of what makes players successful as well as what makes the game FUN. As the sport of soccer grows in the United States, young players need the proper environment to fall in love with the beautiful game and have fun learning the basic building blocks in a fun and safe environment. Our Junior League program is designed for 4 to 6 year-olds will provide a heavy emphasis on soccer skills such as dribbling, ball-striking and ball mastery, all taught through age appropriate activities.
This is a non-competitive program; scores are not kept. The fields and goals are scaled down. Players focus on 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 to maximize their time with the ball. Fewer players on the field mean more opportunity to be in the action! The practices end with a 10-15 minute long small sided game. Teams may be co-ed.
Who’s doing the coaching?
While the program will be overseen by Coach Ryan Sparks, based on registration numbers, we will need some parent volunteers willing to help out with the sessions. If you are interested in helping out, please see below.
A structured training guideline/curriculum is provided to those who volunteer.
Coaching Volunteers – Contact Ryan Sparks to volunteer! Juniors coaches must complete a background check, concussion training, Lindsay’s Law training, and SafeSport (there is no fee for completing this Risk Management).
Training/games: 45 minutes, 2x/week.
Mondays & Wednesdays 6:15-7:00 PM at TFA North or South (Field TBD)
No weekend commitment.
The cost of the Juniors program is $75 for the season which includes a Junior League T-shirt.
